bp North Africa’s Regional President Karim Alaa announced that bp Egypt has obtained a 100% working interest in the King Mariout Offshore area (KOA).

“This award, with the EGY-5 block awarded earlier in 2022, provides a solid foundation for our ambitious development plans in the offshore Nile Delta,” Alaa commented.

BP Egypt is leveraging its infrastructure to keep on delivering “resilient and focused hydrocarbons for Egypt’s growing gas market,” Alaa stated. The company plans to drill an exploratory well as well as conduct 3D seismic imaging in KOA.

“These milestones are the fruits of hard work and great partnership – so a big thank you to everyone who contributed to this success,” Alaa noted.
