BP commenced natural gas production from its offshore Qattameya field in the North Damietta offshore concession through its joint venture (JV), the Pharaonic Petroleum Company (PhPC), according to a statement.
The field has been developed through a one-well subsea development and tie-back to existing infrastructure and is expecting to produce about 50 million cubic feet of natural gas per day (mmcf/d).
“Our team continues to work to support Egypt realize the potential of its energy resources, adding to our track-record of delivery and enabled by our established partnerships with the Egyptian petroleum sector,” Karim Alaa, BP’s North Africa Regional President, stated.
It is worth noting that the Qattameya field is tied to the Ha’py and Tuart fields through a 50 kilometer (km) pipeline. BP holds 100% equity in the North Damietta offshore concession in the East Nile Delta.
