Badawi Vows End to Electricity Load Reduction by Late July

In an effort to alleviate ongoing electricity challenges and end load reduction, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has conducted an inspection tour to follow up on work regularity at the National Natural Gas Control Center at GASCO.

During his visit, Badawi reviewed the current state of natural gas supplies to the national electricity grid and pressures at which the grid operates.

The minister stressed ambitions to end load reduction on the national electricity grid by the third week of July in light of receiving shipments of needed natural gas and mazut regularly.

He noted continuing work on increasing the production of petroleum resources through cooperation with partners as well as accelerating the development operations of new discoveries.

Badawi pointed to the Cabinet’s vision which focuses on solving the problem of electricity load reduction by providing the funds and integrated work with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Resources and the Ministry of Finance.

Additionally, the minister listened to presentations given by the Chairman of GASCO Yasser Salah El Din, and the leaders who operate the control center about the workflow and how they are dealing with the possible problems to guarantee sustainable supply to the electricity national grid.
