Badawi Meets with Shell and Petronas Leaders to Discuss WDDM Gas Projects

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, met with Dalia ElGabry, Vice President and Country Chair of Shell Egypt, and Hany Esmat, CEO of Petronas Egypt, to discuss the companies’ activities in Egypt. The meeting focused on the development of the tenth phase of gas production from the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) Project in the Mediterranean, as well as a review of the progress and procedures for the upcoming eleventh phase in the same region.

During the meeting, Badawi emphasized that the petroleum sector is committed to strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional hub for natural gas and a key player in East Mediterranean gas development.

He underscored that all necessary support and assistance are being extended to international oil companies operating in Egypt to ensure the smooth execution of their projects.

The heads of Shell Egypt and Petronas Egypt confirmed that work on the tenth phase of the WDDM Project in the Mediterranean is progressing, while also highlighting the ongoing procedures for the eleventh phase of gas production.

They expressed their appreciation for Egypt’s role in the region, acknowledging the country’s outstanding capabilities in the oil and gas industry.
