Badawi Conducts EMRA Inspection Visit, Explores Egypt’s Mining Potential

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi conducted an inspection visit at the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA), meeting with mining sector officials to review sector updates and evaluate enhanced investment strategies. 

Badawi highlighted the importance of developing the mining industry and increasing its revenues to benefit the national economy.

Badawi stressed that building on what has been achieved and developing it is ongoing and that building successful models for sustainable mining investment contributes to attracting larger investments, meeting local needs, exporting the surplus, providing job opportunities, and developing communities.

He pointed out that the mining industry in Egypt has environmental compatibility and close cooperation with environmental authorities headed by the Ministry of Environment.

Additionally, the minister led a discussion with the attendees on their visions towards improving the current efforts and legislations which can be effective to the agreements methodology to be more attractive and imply more incentives for investors.

Badawi stressed the necessity of transferring and updating the technologies used in the mining industry and formulating mining opportunities in a way that guarantees the highest competitiveness. He also pointed out the investment and scientific importance of the Egypt Mining Forum (EMF) which supports continuous communication, constructive dialogue, and exchange of expertise in this field.
