Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi dedicated a speech to health, occupational safety and environmental protection (HSE), during the activities of the 10th Egypt Oil & Gas Convention (EOGC 24).
Badawi stated that the culture of commitment to HSE principles is an integral part of the Egyptian petroleum sector’s work system and that work is currently underway to establish it in all aspects of petroleum work.
Additionally, Badawi noted that he was keen to assign a first undersecretary of the ministry for HSE with the aim of emphasizing the importance and priority of the safety of workers in various petroleum work sites as well as the importance of preserving the environment for future generations.
Badawi added that this culture is of utmost importance to attract investments, as it sends a message confirming that the Egyptian petroleum sector has a safe work and investment environment.
The minister thanked the efforts of the safety department employees in the various companies in the sector for the efforts made during the recent period in deepening the safety culture among workers,
Badawi expressed his full support for them in their rapid intervention to stop any practices that may cause harm to the safety of workers and the environment.
