Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held a discussion session with Shannon Slocum, Halliburton President for the Eastern Hemisphere; Ahmed Helmy, Halliburton Vice President for North Africa; and Amr Azzam, Senior Area Manager for Halliburton Egypt. The meeting was also attended by Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Affairs of the Minister’s Office, Technical Office, and official spokesperson for the Ministry.
During the session, Slocum highlighted Halliburton’s 60-year presence in Egypt and its commitment to increasing investments in the country. He emphasized that the recent incentives, agreements, and encouraging policies introduced by the Ministry reflect Egypt’s positive trajectory and create a favorable environment for further growth and collaboration.
Badawi emphasized the vital role of Halliburton in providing advanced technologies to unlock Egypt’s petroleum potential. He underscored the importance of supporting exploration activities, particularly in new frontiers, and leveraging Halliburton’s expertise to enhance production from unconventional resources and brownfields.
This comes through cooperation with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), within the framework of the initiative recently launched by the Ministry, which encouraged companies to return to work in marine exploration and research activities as well as in a number of aging onshore fields.
