Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates, to discuss joint efforts to promote investment opportunities in Egypt’s oil, gas and mining sectors.
The meeting addressed mechanisms to promote investment opportunities in the petroleum and gas sector and ways to diversify and maximize the use of Egypt’s natural resources, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministers also discussed promoting the upcoming Egypt Mining Forum (EMF), scheduled for September 2026 in the New Administrative Capital under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The forum will bring together mining sector leaders, investors, and Egyptian and international companies to showcase investment opportunities in exploration and production.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with regional and international energy partners to support Egypt’s position as a regional energy trading hub, capitalizing on the country’s strategic geographic location, advanced infrastructure, logistics capabilities, and specialized facilities.
He emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise with energy-producing countries in exploration and production and the use of new technologies to develop natural resources, which enhances the sector’s competitiveness and increases foreign investments.
Badawi said EMF is part of efforts to promote Egypt’s mining resources and investment opportunities. He noted that the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) has worked to improve the mining investment environment through legislative development, reforms, and investment incentives, to maximize the benefit from Egypt’s mineral resources and raise the contribution of mining to the national product.
Badawi also noted the importance of cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote investment opportunities and incentives in the oil, gas, and mining sectors through diplomatic efforts.
He added that these efforts support petroleum sector companies involved in project execution, maintenance, and infrastructure development as they seek to expand into international markets.
