Adani Welspun Exploration Limited (AWEL) stroke a new natural gas discovery in an area off Mumbai Coast, the Times of India reported.

The gas reserves were found in the Tapti-Daman sector of the Mumbai Offshore basin while production was initiated by other operators. This is considered the first gas encounter in the Mumbai offshore block. 

It should be noted that AWEL is a joint venture (JV) between Adani Group and Welspun Enterprises Limited. Adani Group has 65% working interest through its Adani Enterprises while Welspun Group has a 35% working interest through Welspun Natural Resources.
