ASORC, Enppi, Petrojet Sign MoU for New Atmospheric Distillation Facility

Assiut Oil Refining Company (ASORC) signed a memorandum of understanding with Engineering for the Petroleum & Process Industries (Enppi) and The Petroleum Projects & Technical Consultations Company (Petrojet) to establish a new atmospheric distillation facility at Assuit’s refinery with investments worth EGP 6 billion .

The facility will have a design capacity of 5 million tons per year in order to contribute to the operational sustainability of current and future projects, including a gas recovery unit (butane). In addition, the implementation of the project comes within the framework of the continuous expansion of the refinery, which is the mainstay of the petroleum products provided to Upper Egypt.

The MoU was signed by Majid Al-Kurdi head of ASORC, Enppi’s Chairman and CEO Ashraf Bahaa, and Petrojet’s Chairman Waleed Lotfy, in the presence of Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek el Molla.

On this occasion, El Molla emphasized that Assiut currently witnesses a step forward in the establishment of an advanced oil refining system in Upper Egypt. He added that Assiut has also seen successive projects to expand oil refining as well as to produce high-value petroleum products, referring to the high-octane gasoline production complex and the ANPEC complex for the production of diesel.
