Saudi Aramco and Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) have begun operations at their new naphtha cracker, industry sources told Reuters.
The cracker, which is part of the $2.7 billion Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) joint venture (JV), will have a production capacity of around 1.2 million tonnes per year.
RAPID is located in Pengerang in Johor state, at the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia.
