Amec Foster Wheeler Wins Saudi Pipeline Contract

Amec Foster Wheeler has been awarded a contract by Sadara Chemical Company for the construction of two gas pipelines at the PlasChem Park, located in Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia, Trade Arabia reported.

Amec Foster Wheeler will design two pipelines to run from Sadara’s plants to the PlasChem industrial park. They will be used to transport ethylene oxide and propylene oxide, materials used to make detergents and plastics.

The PlasChem Park is used to support Sadara’s downstream operations and houses a Hydrocarbon Resin Cluster, Ethylene Oxide/Propylene Oxide Cluster, Polyurethane Cluster and a Plastics Cluster.

The large potential for different conversion processes at the industrial facility is designed to attract investors to different market sectors.

“This transportation system will be commissioned just in time for the first wave of our EO/PO cluster investors and will provide a great incentive for them to locate to PlasChem Park,” Sadara chief executive Faisal Al Faqeer said.

Sadara is a joint venture between state oil company Saudi Aramco and global chemicals major Dow Chemical Company.
