Al Sisi to Inaugurate EGYPS 2022

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al Sisi will inaugurate the fifth edition of Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS 2022) which will be held on 14-16 February under the slogan “North Africa and the Mediterranean: Delivering Energy Today”, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced.

The event is expected to attract a broad spectrum of local and international participation from many parts of the world which will include government officials, business leaders, local and multinational corporations, and petroleum industry experts, being the oil and gas sector’s most significant occasion in the region.

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla explained that the success of previous editions of this event was great motivation to ensure that this year’s edition attracts more international participation. In doing so, El Molla emphasized that this is important in achieving maximum benefit for the oil and gas industry in Egypt, in attracting investments and sharing success stories.

Al Sisi’s keenness to open this conference annually sends a clear message of the Egyptian state’s support for this vital sector, which increases investor confidence, El Molla noted.

The current version of the EGYPS conference is of particular importance in light of what the current period requires in coordination and communication for Egypt with all regional and international parties for the success of COP27, which is being hosted in Sharm El-Sheikh this year.

The precautionary measures will be implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the exhibition, as they will be applied with diligence in all future events, El Molla pointed out.

The conference will witness the participation of 11 ministers of petroleum and energy from several countries, 19 heads of major international oil and energy companies, and 8 leaders of major international petroleum organizations, led by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO), the World Energy Forum, and the Mediterranean Energy Observatory.
