Al-Sisi Supports Eni’s Endeavors to Expand Activities in Egypt

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi expressed his support for Eni’s endeavors to expand its investments in Egypt in the field of exploration and production (E&P) and to continue its fruitful cooperation with the Egyptian state, according to  Spokesman of the Egyptian Presidency, Bassam Rady.

Sisi’s remarks came during a meeting with Eni’s CEO, Claudio Descalzi, in the presence of Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, and a number of the company’s senior officials to follow up on the activities of the Italian company in the field of gas and oil exploration and production in Egypt, in light of its efforts to be turned into a regional center for the trade and circulation of all types of energy.

During the meeting, Descalzi reviewed the current and future Eni’s activities in Egypt and expressed his aspiration to continue development in E&P in Egypt.  Both sides also discussed the reoperation of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in Damietta with full capacity to export to all international markets. This provides an added value to Egypt in the field of liquefied gas and strengthens its position in the production and trading of gas from the eastern Mediterranean to the entire world.

The meeting also discussed the cooperation with Eni in the field of hydrogen production to generate energy in Egypt within the Egyptian efforts to attract foreign investments in the field of modern uses of renewable energy.
