Al-Sisi Imposes 2% Tax on Supply Stations’ Imports

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi ratified law No. 549 of 2020 amending some articles of the presidential decree No. 419 of 2018 regarding customs tariff, imposing a tax of 2% tax on supply stations imports, according to the Customs Authority.

The amended article stipulates that a custom tax of 2% will be collected on imported electric or natural gas vehicles’ supply stations equipment. The 2% will be collected and based on the product’s value or the import tax, whichever is less. The new tax also applies to imported components of converting vehicles to work with electricity or natural gas and environmental monitoring equipment and their spare parts, as well as renewable energy equipment and components.
