59% of Vehicle Owners Eye Dual Fuel Conversion: CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued a report on the results of a survey about fuel consumption in the road transportation sector in 2020.

According to the survey’s  findings, 42% of vehicle owners have the desire to switch to natural gas for their cars, while 59% would prefer their cars to have a duel-fueling system (liquid and natural gas).

The report also indicated that the number of vehicles eligible for the dual-fuel conversion initiative reached 2.15 million (including private and commercial vehicles). The number of vehicles eligible for the compressed natural gas (GNC) conversion initiative reached 2.76 million (including private and commercial vehicles), CAPMAS said.

According to the report, the road transportation sector consumed around 6.8 million tons of benzene, representing 100% of the total benzene consumption, as all types of benzene are used in the road transport sector.

Meanwhile, the road transportation sector consumes 3.5 million tons of diesel, accounting for 29% of diesel consumption, and 616.6 million cubic meters of natural gas, which makes up 1.02% of natural gas consumption across all sectors.
