Egypt Energy 2022: An Open Platform for Investment, Innovation, Inspiration

During the past few days, Egypt Energy 2022 exhibition and conference became the center of gravity for the regional market as the largest energy gathering in North Africa, attracting local and international visitors as well as exhibitors from China, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Poland, Turkey, the U.S, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center under the patronage of the Ministries of Electricity and Renewable Resources, Environment, and Trade and Industry, Egypt Energy was more than just an exhibition, but a rare and unique opportunity for business professionals working in the energy sector to explore new markets, expand their operations, and examine promising prospects for growth.

From Germany, seven companies participated in the conference. Islam Olama, a project manager at Sudkabel Company, said that the company is specialized in manufacturing cables and accessories. “It is important for our company to have market share in the Egyptian energy market as it is an opening market and has many competitors,” he elaborated. Olama added that the Egyptian market has good opportunities for Sudkabel company thanks to new cities and transmission lines which are their business focus. “Recently, we partnered with Siemens in its transmission station projects through providing the cables and we have many discussions for more projects in Egypt during the coming period.”

Additionally, four Italian companies participated in Energy Egypt. Andrea Spadaro, Export Sales Director at HT ITALIA Srl, highlighted that the company has been attending the show for the past three years adding that “we are here [ the exhibition] because the local market in Egypt is very interesting with a very great potential.” He said that the energy market in Egypt is encouraging as the country is investing a lot in new energies especially photovoltaic instruments, noting “it is a mature market but it has a lot of potential and we want to develop the market locally.”

In addition, Japanese company Nagaki Seki Co, Ltd also took part in this great event, being a promising opportunity to expand its business. Sandali Dilshanie, Sales Employee in Overseas Division at the company, told Egypt Oil and Gas that they were interested in exhibiting their products, elaborating that it manufactures safety products used in cable installation and maintenance. Dilshanie added that “Egyptian energy market is big and we are hoping to engage in it more.” Dilshanie was happy with the many good contacts the company had during the exhibition expecting a good job for the company during the coming period in Egypt.

While from Turkey, nine companies attended the show. Mert Gorur, an employee at Manas Enerji Yonetimi Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S. said that “we are here in Egypt Energy 2022 because we want to find distributors and present our products in Egypt”. He noted that the company is producing measurement systems, meters, and smart meters. “The energy market in Egypt is a growing market and we want to be involved in it,” Gorur stated.  He is seeing that Egypt is a good market for the company as it has many smart cities and it has great opportunities in the future.

Regarding Indian participation, 15 companies took part in the exhibition. Nilesh Prithani, the sales director of Massimo Batteries Pvt Ltd, stated that they “have high hopes from the exhibition, and we are really amazed with the response that we have got during the exhibition.” He also said that Egypt is the gateway for them to reach other markets within the region. “Egypt market is a very good market because it has a large number of consumers and manufacturers, as well… we think that we can do good business in Egypt,” Prithani said.“We had many good business discussions during the days of [the] conference.”

Pankaj Sharma, General Manager of International Business at the Indian company Salasar, was very optimistic about discussions and talks he held with potential customers during the exhibition. He was bringing new Steel Utility Poles to the market, which he said: “are extremely crucial for infrastructure development as they are cost-effective, more durable, better for the environment and easier to employ compared to other alternatives.”

This was in addition to the participation of companies from other countries. China participated with two companies; Malaysia participated with one company. Also, one company attended from Poland, four from Saudi Arabia, 23 from South Korea, one from the US, and five from the UAE in addition to around 50 companies participating from the Egyptian side.
