Egypt Hosts Workshop on Renewable Energy in Africa

The Ministry of Electricity Undersecretary for Research, Planning, and International Cooperation, Maha Mostafa, and Massaad El Masiri, Energy Officer at the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), inaugurated on June 18 a workshop on renewable energy in Africa, Al Mal reported.

The workshop gathered about 30 participants from 21 African countries, including representatives from the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), Regional Center for Excellence in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), and Egyptian private sector companies.

The workshop reviewed Egypt’s experience in the implementation of the Benban project in Aswan, the world’s largest solar park, the energy sector in the African continent, small and micro electric power grids, as well as services provided by the participating organizations.
