The BG Energy Challenge 2007 - Egypt raised over $120,000 for charity in Upper Egypt. Held in Wadi El-Gimal National Park in the south east of Egypt by the Red Sea, over 140 participants, forming 25 teams, mostly from the energy sector, spent two days hiking and climbing mountains in the Wadi as well as taking part in competitive games between each climb.

Dana strikes more Egypt gas

Melrose Begins Production at West Dikirnis Field in Egypt

Melrose Resources reports that first production was established at the West Dikirnis field in the onshore Nile Delta on November 30, 2007. The field development was completed within 12 months of project sanction and came in under budget. The initial production stream is from the West Dikirnis No.2 well and it is anticipated that output from the field will reach a 10,000 barrels of oil per day by the end of the year as additional wells are opened for production.

PTT picks up Egypt gas stake

Thailand's state-owned energy company PTT said today it had signed a contract to buy a 25% stake in an Egyptian gas pipeline company for $487 million.
