Egypt Fuel Subsidies to be Distributed Only by Smart Cards

Khalid Abdul Ghani, Director of the Smart Card system for distribution of petroleum products, confirmed that all data for those eligible for fuel subsidies – 5.6m citizens – has been handed over to the traffic authorities so that cards are delivered before implementation of the second stage.

Sherif Ismail: Providing Petroleum Products to Citizens is a Strategic Goal

Egypt Oil and Gas learned that the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Sherif Ismail, had said that the provision for citizens’ needs of petroleum products is a strategic goal and that they are currently executing a program to secure supplies, especially of butane to keep up with increased consumption, especially during the winter.

In an interview with Daily News Egypt, Sherif ismail announced that economic studies to import gas from the Aphrodite gas field in Cyprus are underway. This came after ENPPI completed all technical studies. "It is planned that we start importing after 2017." Ismail explained.

Third FRSU Ship to Reach Egypt September 2016

In an interview with Daily News Egypt, Engineer Sherif Ismail, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum announced that the third gasification ship is expected to reach the Safaga Port in September 2016, to meet the needs of power plants affiliated to Siemens Co., which will enter into service afterwards. The capacity of the three boats will range from 750mcf to 1bcf of gas per day, to meet part of the needs of the industrial sector and power plants.
