The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) has received 870 complaints regarding gasoline quality from May 4 to 9, with Cairo reporting 429 complaints–the highest among all governorates.
Amid ongoing uncertainty over the link between fuel quality and the recently prevailing vehicle pump failures across the country, the Ministry announced on Sunday that affected individuals can claim up to EGP 2,000 in compensation for pump replacement, provided it is reported between May 4-10, 2025 via the hotline 16528 or the government complaints system website with proper documentation.
