Total enters into an offshore exploration permit in the Nile Basin

Total announces that, within the framework of the EGAS 2008 international bid round organized by the Egyptian authorities, it has been awarded a 90% participation in and the operatorship of Block 4 (East El Burullus Offshore) in conjunction with partner ENEL (10%). This award is subject to approval by the competent authorities.

Dana Gas production in Egypt climbs 20% as newly discovered fields are coming on stream

Dana Gas, the Middle East's first and largest regional private sector natural gas company, has increased production through its El Wastani gas plant in the Nile Delta region of Egypt to 170 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfpd) having successfully brought the El Basant field on stream on 31st March 2009. Total production in Egypt is now running at 35,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd), a 20% increase on the average rate achieved during 2008.
