El Molla: Zohr’s Production Capacity Records 3 bcf/d

Zohr field’s natural gas production capacity reached to 3 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d), the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, announced, according to press release.

During an inspection tour in Zohr offshore filed, the minister clarified that the economic and strategic success of the project contributed to the country’s natural gas self-sufficiency, reducing the burden of its imports and resuming exports.

A parliamentary delegation accompanied the minister in the visit, which included the Undersecretary of the Parliament Suleiman Wahdan, and members of the Energy and Environment Committee in the Parliament, headed by Talaat El Sewdi, in addition to some of the leaders and heads in the petroleum sector.

El Molla discussed the petroleum sector’s strategy, which succeeded in achieving these progresses pointing to the execution of the Modernization Project.

He added that the application of the country’s economic reform program and the pricing indexation mechanism led to the decline of the local consumption rate of petroleum products from 39 million ton in 2015/2016 to 31 million ton in 2018/2019, in addition imports dropped from 16 million ton to 12 million ton.
