Third Zohr Gas Processing Unit Begins Operations

The third gas processing unit at Zohr natural gas field began operations on June 14, 10 days ahead of schedule, Egypt Oil & Gas reports.

A 30-inch pipeline linking the offshore wells and the onshore processing units is currently under construction, and is expected to be online by the end of July 2018.

The new processing unit will help Zohr to reach production levels of 1.750 billion cubic feet per day (bcm/d) by August 2018, the Ministry of Petroleum said in a press statement.

Zohr field, along with the other development projects, contributed to boosting Egypt’s total gas output to 6 bcm/d, Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla commented.

Egypt is in the process of working to increase its gas production to reach self sufficiency and resume exporting natural gas.
