WOTECH Showcases Innovative Rice Straw MDF Technology During MoPMR Inspection

Head of the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Committee at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR), Gamal Fathy, accompanied by Salah Riyad, the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company’s (ECHEM) Chairman Assistant for HSE, has conducted an inspection visit to the Wood Technology Company (WOTECH) factory in the Idku area in Beheira Governorate, which is currently being operated experimentally.

WOTECH Chairman Ahmed Baraka gave a presentation about the company’s activities and the factory’s production units.

Baraka explained that the WOTECH factory in Idku is the second of its kind in the world in the technology of manufacturing medium-density wood panels (MDF) from rice straw waste.

Additionally, Baraka explained that the production capacity of MDF panels amounts to 460,000 tons per year, which is pumped to the local market and the surplus is exported abroad, especially to the European Union (EU) countries.
