Woodside Energy Signs 9-Year LNG Supply Deal with Türkiye’s BOTAŞ

Woodside Energy has signed a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Turkey’s BOTAŞ for the supply of around 5.8 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas equivalent, or approximately 0.5 million tons per year (mmt/y) of LNG, for a period of up to nine years starting in 2030.

The deal turns a previously non-binding Heads of Agreement (HOA), signed in September this year, into a binding commitment. Under the agreement, LNG will be supplied primarily from Woodside’s under-construction Louisiana LNG project in the US as well as from Woodside’s broader portfolio.

“This supply agreement with BOTAŞ represents a strategic milestone for Woodside, given it is our first long-term LNG supply arrangement with the Turkish market. It is yet another demonstration of the strength and flexibility of Woodside’s diversified portfolio and ability to deliver on our global ambitions,” said Mark Abbotsford, Executive Vice President (VP) and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Woodside.

Woodside, a global energy company, established the LNG industry in Australia in the 1980s and has reliably delivered gas to homes and businesses in Australia and customers around the world for decades. It has expanded its portfolio of oil, gas, and new energy projects in Australia, North America, and Africa.
