Wintershall Dea COO: Egypt Third Largest Producer in Company Portfolio

After yet another year of robust performance despite overwhelming global challenges, Wintershall Dea Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dawn Summers highlighted that Egypt is the third largest producer in the company’s portfolio.

“Without considering the Russian business, our full year production stood at 321,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2022,” Summers said. “Speaking for Egypt in 2023, we are exclusively focused on natural gas in close partnership with EGAS and with bp and Egypt is now the third largest production country in our Wintershall Dea portfolio.”

“Following Norway and Germany, Egypt remains a core region with a long-term commitment having been producing 36,000 boe/d in 2022,” Summers added.

With global energy markets hungry for additional natural gas reserves, the German energy giant has also set its sights on more discoveries in Egypt that are bound to ramp up production even further.

“One of the biggest highlights for us in Egypt was that we discovered natural gas at our East Damanhour project close to our existing Disouq facilities,” Summers said. “We also added a new exploration block called North West Abu Qir to our portfolio.”
