Western Desert Operating Petroleum Company (Wepco) has succeeded in obtaining quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE) certifications of different management systems from the ISO committee, a press release issued by the company reported.
The company has been granted the approval from the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) after assessing Wepco’s site of Hamra petroleum port according to the international standards. It has been awarded the certifications of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 which is related to measurement, analysis and calibration labs in addition to ISO/45001:2018 which is related to HSE systems.
Moreover, Wepco has obtained the HSE certifications of ISO/14001:2015 and ISO/45001:2018 in managing Badr-1 site for the first time since the company has taken the responsibility of managing it.
The Chairman of Wepco, Ibrahim Massoud, said that these granted certifications and approvals are considered a success and a big challenge for the company, adding that the development of the QHSE systems is one of the most essential pillars and future challenges of which the company is pursuing to contribute in improving and developing the HSE system as well as its efficiency.
He elaborated that these grants will help in gaining customers’ trust and satisfaction, in addition to increase the demand of the company’s services on an international level.
Massoud mentioned that these achievements came in line with public policy of the country under the leadership of Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, to prepare Hamra port for becoming one of the axis allowing Egypt to be a regional hub for petroleum trading in addition to applying Vision 2030 for developing and improving the state’s institutions.
