Wadico and Orman Association Launch Development Initiative in Edfu’s Al Tonab Village

The New Valley Company for Mineral Resources and Oil Clay (Wadico) and the Orman Association have signed a cooperation protocol for the development of Al Tonab Village in Edfu, Aswan Governorate.

This initiative is part of the petroleum sector’s social responsibility strategy and reflects the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ (MoPMR) commitment to supporting local community development.

The protocol was signed by Amgad Ghoneim, Wadico’s Chairman, and Ahmed El-Gendy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Orman Association.

Wadico, in collaboration with the Orman Association, conducted an assessment to identify the needs that would enhance and improve the quality of life in Al Tonab Village, Aswan Governorate. This effort includes rebuilding and renovating 30 houses, furnishing them with essential furniture and electrical appliances, and providing two cattle to each family.

The project also included the installation of a biogas unit to generate gas for homes with sufficient space for implementation, ensuring the application of safety measures. Additionally, a solar energy unit was introduced to reduce electricity consumption. These initiatives aim to improve the quality of life by providing safe and sustainable energy sources (gas and electricity), decent and well-equipped housing, and a permanent source of income. The project focuses on supporting the most vulnerable families, helping them transition into self-sufficient and productive households.
