Venture Global Secures Agreements for Up to 10 GW of New Power Capacity

Venture Global, a US-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) producer and exporter, has signed agreements with GE Vernova and Baker Hughes Energy Services to support the development of up to 10 gigawatts (GW) of additional computing capacity at sites it owns or controls in the US, according to a company statement on 15 October.

The agreements cover up to 16 power island units, each with a capacity of 720 megawatts (MW), and associated power transformer equipment.

The planned facilities would operate independently of the public electricity grid, supporting the development of large-scale data centers alongside Venture Global’s existing LNG infrastructure.

The company said the expansion would build on its existing 4.5 GW of modular, gas-fired power generation capacity, which supplies electricity to its LNG facilities.

The proposed development would not add demand to public electricity grids or water utilities, according to Venture Global.

The company said the agreements would allow it to reserve manufacturing capacity through future definitive reservation agreements with agreed pricing and delivery terms. It expects to place its first purchase order for a power island by the end of 2026.

Venture Global plans to develop additional capacity in stages, depending on customer commitments, market demand, and other commercial considerations. It expects to have the potential to develop up to 10 GW of computing capacity by the end of 2034.

The company added that the expansion would remain separate from its existing LNG operations and would not affect its LNG sales agreements or other commercial commitments.

Venture Global has more than 100 million metric tons per annum (mtpa) of capacity in production, under construction, or development. Its assets include the Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines LNG, and CP2 LNG projects in Louisiana.
