UOG Successfully Tests ASD-1X at Lower Bahariya, ARC

United Oil and Gas (UOG) has successfully tested the ASD-1X exploration well in the Abu Sennan concession in the Lower Bahariya and Abu Roash C (ARC) reservoirs and reached a Total Depth (TD) of 3,750 meters on March 30, several days ahead of schedule and under budget, UOG cited in a statement.

Initial short-term test results from the Lower Bahariya reservoir indicated a maximum flow rate of 1,619 barrels of oil per day (bbl/d) and 2.840 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscf/d) on a 64/64 choke. Meanwhile, the initial short-term test results from the ARC reservoir show a maximum flow rate of 1,215 bbl/d and 1.371 mmscf/d on a 64/64 choke.

Accordingly, Kuwait Energy Egypt (KEE), submitted a notice of commercial discovery and an application for a development lease at ASD-1X to the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC). Upon approval, production would be expected to commence shortly

The well was drilled by the EDC-50 rig and was later moved to the Al Jahraa field within the Abu Sennan concession. Furthermore, drilling of the AJ-8 development well began on May 2 and the EDC-50 rig will also target the Abu Roash and Bahariya reservoirs in an undrained portion of the Al Jahraa field.

Commenting on the successful testing results, Brian Larkin, UOG’s CEO, stated “Today’s announcement is yet another positive result from Abu Sennan, with the notice of a commercial discovery at ASD-1X, and it is very pleasing to see the application for a development lease being submitted.  This will not only enhance production but will further increase the proven reserves on the license.”
