Türkiye will receive part of the diesel Russia is supplying to global markets under an agreement with US President Donald Trump, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said on October 18, according to Reuters.
Bayraktar said Russia had restricted diesel exports in recent months before reaching the agreement with Trump.
He added that Türkiye would receive part of the supply following talks with Russia, but did not provide further details.
Bayraktar revealed that Türkiye’s second floating natural gas production platform was expected to arrive in the first quarter (Q1) of 2028.
He explained that the platform would add 25 million cubic meters per day (mmcm/d) to production from the Sakarya field in the Black Sea, bringing total output to 45 mmcm/d.
Türkiye consumed 59 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas in 2025, while domestic production totaled 3.1 bcm, most of which came from the Sakarya field.
The country relies on Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, and other countries for energy supplies and has sought to diversify its sources through agreements with the US and other partners.
Türkiye is seeking to reduce its dependence on imported natural gas by expanding production from the Sakarya field. The country’s first floating production platform, Osman Gazi, is expected to increase output from the field to 20 mmcm/d.
