Town Gas successfully converted 66,000 units to run on natural gas, with an accomplishment rate of 111%, Ahram Gate reported.
This came during a meeting between Yasser Bahnas, Town Gas Head, and Khaled Abdel Aal, Governor of Cairo to discuss the latest updates on natural gas delivery in Cairo.
During the meeting, Bahnas pointed out providing new areas in Cairo with natural gas for the first time, to reach around 2 million units running on natural gas.
These areas include Hadayek Helwan, Manshyet Nasser, El Haykestb, Ezbet Zain, Manshyet Gamal Abd El Nasser, El Toob El Ramly, 15th of May Extension, Ezbet Khair Allah, Hekr El Teben, and El Abagya.
In addition, Bahnas noted that 2018 witnessed the delivery of natural gas to around 100,000 residential units in Cairo.
For his part, the Governor of Cairo stressed holding coordination meetings with Town Gas to issue any required permits, and to help the company overcome any obstacles preventing the implementation of its plans.
This comes in line with the directions of Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, to companies’ heads to overcome any hindrances they may face in the execution of the national project of delivering natural gas to 1.2 million residential units in 2019.
