French oil giant TotalEnergies has resumed its work in several units at its Donges refinery on the Atlantic coast of France. This comes after the refinery, which holds capacity of 230,000 barrels per day, underwent a full shutdown on the first of March for maintenance works, including repairing a leak, according to data from industry monitor IIR.
In an online statement, TotalEnergies has warned that the restart of operations may result in increased flaring and noise pollution in the surrounding area in the coming days.
The company alerted residents of potential unpleasant odors in the area from Feb. 28-29 and March 1-3 due to the maintenance works.
