Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has held a meeting with TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanné at the company’s headquarters in Paris.

The meeting reviewed the current investment opportunities in the Petroleum Sector and the company’s investment plans over the coming period in Egypt.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of Badawi’s participation in the 19th Francophonie Summit held in the French capital on October 4-5, on behalf of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The meeting reviewed TotalEnergies’ investment plans in the exploration, drilling, and production of natural gas, focusing on strategies to enhance and increase production rates at its Bashrush development concession in the Mediterranean Sea.

Additionally, the discussion covered the company’s investments in Egypt’s lubricants market and its involvement in a natural gas liquefaction facility in Idku.

During the meeting, Pouyanné praised the strategic partnership with Egypt’s oil and gas sector, emphasizing that the company’s activities in Egypt’s energy sector have significant potential for expansion, given the promising investment opportunities and the country’s robust infrastructure.

For his part, Badawi highlighted the efforts to stimulate investment in the petroleum sector and provide a favorable environment for pumping more investments by international companies, noting that the sector is interested in deepening the partnership with international companies and stimulating the acceleration of the pace of pumping investment to achieve the benefit of both sides.
