TotalEnergies Expands its Electricity Business

TotalEnergies has announced its plans to accelerate its development in the electricity business.

The French company has recently acquired three start-ups that were part of its On acceleration program at STATION F in Paris.

One of the start-ups acquired by TotalEnergies is Dsflow, which offers an innovative software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution for multi-site, electricity-intensive B2B customers. This solution allows customers to monitor their assets in real time and optimize their procurement strategy.

Besides Dsflow, TotalEnergies has also integrated the software platform developed by NASH Renewables to optimize the design and operating parameters of its renewable projects with a design-to-value approach., taking into account the impact of geographical specificities on market prices.

By using this platform, TotalEnergies expects to improve the profitability of its renewable projects and contribute to its profitability target of 12% ROACE by 2028 for the business segment.

To further enhance its trading operations, TotalEnergies has internalized the machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions of Predictive Layer, another start-up acquired through the acceleration program. These solutions focus on energy price forecasting for both physical and derivatives markets, as well as other customized forecast modeling for demand, supply, production, and non-commodity trading.

Furthermore, TotalEnergies has taken a 56% stake in Time2plug, a start-up that facilitates the deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging points in France. This acquisition will help TotalEnergies accelerate the deployment of EV charging points for its small B2B customers, thanks to Time2Plug’s marketplace and certified in-house installer network.

“We are delighted with the acquisition of DsFlow, Nash Renewables, and Predictive Layer, and we welcome their teams to TotalEnergies. We are also pleased with our partnership with Time2Plug. All these solutions will enable us to improve our B2B offers, the development of our renewable projects, our market analyses, and the deployment of EV charging points,” said Stéphane Michel, President, Gas Renewables & Power at TotalEnergies.

Apart from these acquisitions, TotalEnergies has also signed commercial contracts with ten other start-ups that were part of the acceleration program.
