Two of the top energy technology companies, Technip Energies and Baker Hughes, have announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that lays the groundwork for their collaboration on the joint development of a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) modularized solution for the onshore market with a capacity above 1 and up to 2 million tons per annum (MTPA).
In order to reduce the time to market for LNG to meet today’s energy demand, this joint development aims to add a new offering to the two companies’ unique LNG modularized solutions: Baker Hughes’ 1 MTPA range LNG Mid-scale Modular Solution (MMS), with a production capacity of 0.8 to 1 MTPA, and Technip Energies’ “SnapLNGTM,” with a production capacity of 2 to 3 MTPA.
Two well-known market leaders in the LNG sector are Technip Energies and Baker Hughes. The deal expands on their long-standing partnership and successful track record in completing LNG projects, and it acknowledges the significant growth in mid-size LNG as demand rises for modular LNG projects that can provide additional gas capacity.
“Cooperating in advancing technology in LNG with our long-term partner Baker Hughes is an important step for the energy industry and for our clients. The combination of our expertise, modular approach and references will enable shorter delivery times and better affordability” stated Arnaud Pieton, CEO of Technip Energies. “Importantly, it reflects Technip Energies’ commitment to deliver low-emission liquefaction solutions through electrification and the elimination of fugitive emissions to accelerate the energy transition”.
SnapLNGTM, a modularized, compact, and completely electrified solution for the 2 to 3 MTPA that offers more assurance regarding both prices and schedule, is already a part of Technip Energies’ portfolio. It includes the liquefaction process as well as any utilities and pre-treatment that are required. SnapLNGTM is especially well suited for LNG developments with low to no carbon footprint, and it highlights Technip Energies’ experience of more than ten years in successfully designing and delivering LNG modular projects.
For more than ten years, Baker Hughes has offered plug-and-play modular solutions for LNG that can accommodate various project sizes. A flexible, standardized, and scalable solution for reducing the carbon footprint of the liquefaction process and accelerating time to LNG is offered by its 1 MTPA range LNG Mid-scale Modular Solution (MMS).
