Supply Constraints Lower Zawiya Refinery to 50% of Capacity

The cessation of oil production at the Sharara oil field has forced Libya’s Zawiya refinery to pare back its operations, Reuters reports.

The refinery has a capacity to refine 120,000 barrels of crude per day but is only operating at 50% of its capacity due to the closure of the pipelines from Sharara, a refinery source told Reuters.

Output has been off for five days now, Libya Express reports.

Due to security issues, operations at the Sharara oil fields have been suspended for more than a week, according to international news agencies. Production has also been slowed or halted at the El Feel and Hamada oil fields.
