Global technology company SLB has secured a five-year contract from Aramco to provide stimulation services across the Saudi giant’s unconventional gas fields, supporting a multi‑billion‑dollar development program, according to a press release by SLB.
The project is expected to advance one of the world’s largest unconventional gas initiatives, a core element of the Kingdom’s strategy to diversify its energy mix and accelerate its energy transition.
The agreement includes advanced stimulation, well intervention, frac automation, and digital solutions designed to enhance efficiency and unlock additional production from Saudi Arabia’s unconventional gas resources. SLB said the integrated offering is intended to set new performance benchmarks for unconventional gas development in the region.
This latest award builds on SLB’s growing collaboration with Aramco. In December 2024, SLB and Aramco, together with German industrial gases company Linde, signed a shareholders’ agreement to develop one of the world’s largest carbon capture and storage hubs in Jubail. The first phase of that project targets capturing and storing up to 9 million metric tons of CO₂ per year, supporting Aramco’s emissions‑reduction strategy and expanding SLB’s role in the Kingdom’s low‑carbon development efforts.
