In cooperation with SLB, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) organized the second workshop on the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in oil and natural gas Exploration and Production (E&P).
The attendees included Ehab Ragaee, First Undersecretary for Production Affairs at the MoPMR, Mohamed Radwan, Vice Chairman of South Valley Egyptian Holding Company for Petroleum (GANOPE) for Agreements and Exploration, and Director of the Egypt E&P Gateway, alongside several chairmen of oil and gas companies, exploration managers, and representatives of foreign partners.
The workshop aimed to exchange experiences and successful practices in implementing AI to enhance the efficiency of E&P operations. Discussions highlighted the successful trials of AI in both international and local production companies operating within the Egyptian sector.
The event showcased the latest digital transformation solutions and AI applications. These technologies focus on improving production rates and maximizing the added value derived from petroleum resources.
Furthermore, practical demonstrations were provided for AI applications executed by international and Egyptian production companies in collaboration with SLB. These applications demonstrated tangible results, including reducing costs, increasing production, and accelerating the decision-making process.
Sherif Bayoumi, SLB’s Chairman and Managing Director in Egypt, said that AI contributes directly to cost reduction and the opening of new production horizons in the petroleum sector. He concluded that the event clearly underscores the strength of the partnership in converting Technology into tangible value, confirming that AI’s applications are boundless.
MoPMR and SLB previously organized a joint workshop that focused on carbon reduction and limiting methane emissions in the petroleum sector in January
