Sino Tharwa Participated in Rig Rentals Tender

Egypt’s Sino Tharwa bid in the tender that was launched by Saudi Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO)  to rent out three drilling rigs. The rigs in the tender are ST-2, ST-5 and ST-6 drilling with total capacity 1500 horse power. The Aramco tender will close end of January.

Sino Tharwa’s CEO, Ahmed Anwar, stated to Egypt Oil&Gas that in an attempt to expand its operations beyond the Egyptian borders, the company participated in several international bid rounds to tender the rental of drilling rigs in order to expand its activities outside of Egypt.

This came as Sino Tharwa was further revered by the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Tarek El Molla, and his Iraqi counterpart as one of the companies that have potential to bid in future Iraqi tenders. This came during the meeting between the two ministers on the sidelines of the recent meetings between the Arab ministers of petroleum.

In related news, an official from Sino Tharwa Drilling Company had stated to Egypt Oil&Gas that the company had entered a bid in Algeria, through Italian ENI, over renting rig (ST-16), with a capacity of 200 horse power. At the time of the report, the company’s technical evaluation had been accepted, while results on the financial appraisal was still in progress.
