Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals Company (SIDPEC) reported total sales of EGP14.4 billion and a net profit of EGP1.138 billion for the fiscal year (FY) 2025, according to Chairman Mohamed Zakaria El Afandy, who noted that performance remained resilient despite surging natural gas and polymer prices amid regional geopolitical tensions. In 2024, the company’s sales were EGP14.15 billion while its net profits stood at EGP2.5 billion, according to Reuters.
El Afandy was addressing attendees of SIDPEC’s general assembly meeting, which approved a cash dividend of EGP 0.50 per share. El Afandy told the meeting that the company’s robust financial position earned it a spot on Forbes Middle East’s “Top 50 Companies in Egypt for 2026.”
SIDPEC is an Egypt-based company engaged in the production and distribution of petrochemical products mainly ethylene, polyethylene, butane and naphtha, among others.
In terms of operations, SIDPEC produced approximately 233,000 tons of ethylene and 188,000 tons of polyethylene. In addition to the company’s efforts to localize the petrochemical industry, it is expanding globally, with its products reaching 57 countries and a focus on new markets in South America.
On energy efficiency, the company achieved cumulative savings of about 93,000 megawatt-hour (MWh) since 2015 through efficiency projects and a digital energy management system (DEMS), alongside an emissions‑reduction strategy. Key initiatives included a combined heat and power (CHP) project, air compressor upgrades, and AI‑based advanced process control (APC), all contributing to improved performance, lower costs, and reduced emissions. Looking ahead, the company plans to expand APC systems, increase reliance on solar energy, and develop an ethane import system to enhance supply sustainability and operational flexibility.
As for the company’s digitalization efforts, it has implemented the AVEVA PI system to connect and analyze operational data, alongside upgrading alarm management, cybersecurity systems, and launching digital applications to support decision-making and improve efficiency, according to its chairman. The meeting concluded with a review of Sidpec’s environmental and social initiatives, including the issuance of Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) reports and its continued participation in the “Haya Kareema” presidential initiative.
The general assembly, attended by Alaa El-Din Abdel Fattah, Chairman of the Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM), observed a minute of silence in memory of Petrojet’s Hossam Sadeq, who passed away while on duty in the UAE.
