“Saipem 10000” Drilling Arrives in Egypt to Start Operations at Zohr Field

In continuation of the intensive drilling activities witnessed by Egypt in the deep waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the drilling vessel “Saipem 10000” arrived in Egyptian waters to begin drilling operations at the Zohr natural gas field site in north of Port Said  for new wells by using modern technology in deep waters in the field’s concession area.

This came in a recent announcement by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi.

These activities aim to accelerate the addition of new quantities to production immediately upon completion of drilling operations.

These efforts come in line with the commitment to resume the field development plans agreed upon between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) and the Italian company Eni, the operator of the field, and to start drilling new wells during the first three months of 2025

This will contribute to enhancing natural gas production rates from the Zohr field, within the framework of the first pillar of the MoPMR’s strategy, which is to intensify production activities to meet the needs of citizens and various state sectors for petroleum products and natural gas.
