Qatari investment company Nebras Power has acquired a 75% controlling stake in Dutch solar firm Zon Exploitatie Nederland, the Qatar News Agency announced on Twitter on September 16.

Zon Exploitatie Nederland is a Dutch renewable energy company with previous involvement in large-scale solar energy projects in the UK and Germany.

In June 2017, a joint venture between Qatar Electricity and Water Company, and Qatar Petroleum started the construction of a 200 MW solar power project which is expected to be fully operational by 2020.

Solar power is projected to produce 16% of the country’s power by 2020.
