Prime Minister Madbouly Emphasizes Strategic Partnership with bp in Oil and Gas Sector

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Murray Auchincloss, CEO of bp; Nader Zaki, the company’s regional president for the Middle East and North Africa; and Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

At the beginning of the meeting, Madbouly welcomed Auchincloss and his accompanying delegation to the Cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, noting that bp is a strategic partner of Egypt in the field of oil and gas production.

Madbouly expressed his appreciation for the company’s work in the Egyptian market, explaining that the company has been operating in Egypt for 60 years, during which it was able to pump cumulative investments exceeding $30 billion.

The Prime Minister highlighted that, in addition to the significant projects the company has undertaken in the Egyptian market over the years, it has an ambitious plan to explore oil and gas in six concession areas across Egypt. This gives us confidence and optimism for achieving further discoveries in the near future.

Madbouly also expressed his desire for enhanced cooperation with BP in the coming years.

Meanwhile, Auchincloss reviewed the promising investment opportunities that the company is working on in a number of its concession areas during the period from 2025 to 2027.

Auchincloss further reviewed plans to start production from a number of wells that the company operates, one of which will start production during the first quarter of next year.

During the meeting, Badawi discussed with bp officials the efforts to accelerate the pace of production and the timelines for starting production from a number of wells and fields in the concession areas of the British company.
