Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has met with the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla, to review the progress of the nationwide project to convert cars to run on compressed natural gas (CNG).
Madbouly started the meeting stressing on the necessity of conversion initiative which will maximize the economic and environmental returns as well as the importance of continuous coordination to achieve the initiative’s goals.
During the meeting, El Molla showcased the latest developments of the initiative, including the rate of fuel conversions, especially in the light of the facilities provided by the government.
The minister pointed to the latest developments of digitalizing the system of monitoring the transportation, trade, and circulation of vehicle gas. This is in addition to plans to accelerate car fuel conversions in the coming period until June 2026.
Additionally, El Molla talked about the environmental and economic returns of this process including emissions reduction. He presented the plans and efforts of the ministry during the coming period. He highlighted the implementation mechanisms of the national strategy for green hydrogen in addition to hydrogen production and social responsibility projects.
