Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouy has reviewed the latest developments of the green hydrogen projects during a meeting attended by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi in addition to other ministers and officials.
During the meeting, Randa Al-Minshawi, First Assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Green Hydrogen Council, presented the significant efforts to localize the green hydrogen industry, which included forming draft law on incentives that the state will provide for green hydrogen projects.
She noted to the establishment of the National Council for Green Hydrogen and the setting of the national strategy for all kinds of hydrogen. Al-Minshawi elaborated that the strategy of the low carbon national hydrogen has been done and approved from the Egyptian Supreme Council of Energy.
She also discussed the situation of the lands allocated for renewable energy projects throughout Egypt, with a total area estimated at approximately 42,000 kilometers square, distributed over several regions, including the Gulf of Suez, Gabal El-Zeit, Benban, Kom Ombo, Zaafarana, and several other regions.
In a related context, the First Assistant to the Prime Minister highlighted the production capabilities of green hydrogen projects, noting that 23 green hydrogen projects are currently underway in Egypt. Additionally, 23 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) have been signed with several international developers in the field of green energy to launch new green fuel projects.
Furthermore, she mentioned the success of signing 15 binding framework agreements with existing developers to date.
