Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has held a meeting with the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla as well as the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker to review the progress of their projects, especially in renewable energy.
The meeting discussed the amount of natural gas needed for operating power stations and the latest efforts to rationalize electricity consumption, which will help save more natural gas for export.
During the meeting, the parties followed up on the progress of wind and solar energy projects taking place in partnership international companies. These efforts come as part of the government’s goal to ensure that renewable energy makes up 42% of Egypt’s energy mix by 2035.
Additionally, they discussed the agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed with several countries and consortiums to implement green hydrogen projects in Egypt, contributing to the nation’s ambitious plan to have 8% of the global hydrogen market.
For his part, Shaker showcased efforts to implement ambitious linking projects with the other countries as well as developing transmission networks.
