Pipe-laying Operation Starts Ahead of Nord Stream 2 Project

A pipe-laying vessel started its operation in Danish Water before the resumption of construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, Reuters reported.

This project aims at enhancing the Russian gas supplies to Europe and bypass Ukraine. It is facing a pressure form the US and European Union (EU) to be halted in an attempt to sell its liquified natural gas (LNG) to Europe and reduce its reliance on the supplies from Russia.

By the establishment of such pipeline, the capacity of supplies from Russia to Germany through the existing Nord Stream will be doubled.
