PETRONAS Announces Force Majeure on Gas Supply to MLNG Dua

PETRONAS has announced force majeure (FM) on the gas supply to MLNG Dua due to a pipeline leak caused by soil movement at the vicinity of KP201, Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) that occurred on 21 September 2022.

The gas supply to the MLNG Dua production facility at the PETRONAS LNG Complex (PLC) in Bintulu, Sarawak, has been disrupted as a result.

PETRONAS wants to make it clear that the FM only impacts the gas supply to MLNG Dua’s production plant; all other LNG production facilities within the PLC continue to run according to schedule.

PETRONAS is in negotiations to find appropriate mitigation measures because it is aware that this incident has affected its delivery commitments to some of its contracted liquefied natural gas (LNG) consumers.

To safeguard the integrity and safety of the pipeline, PETRONAS is now performing a thorough assessment of the SSGP.
